a {love} project

At Sweet {Jolie} we aim to help empower women to feel their very best everyday. It’s amazing how the right sweater can lift your shoulders a little higher, or the cutest boots can put a confident swagger into your step. Our regular day-to-day operations of outfitting women in the most flattering clothing and accessories to boost the self-image of thousands of women is truly rewarding – but we had ask – what else can we do to support the women in our community?

There are many non-profit organizations and charities that do amazing work and don't receive enough support or have as much awareness as they deserve. In an effort to help more than a one, two or even three organizations we have decided to help a different group every month! With our amazing Sweet {Jolie} community behind us we know that the love spread far!

"The {Healing Circle} Bracelet represents the healing bond between a Mother and her Children. This Journey piece begins with Clear Crackle-Glass Beads that symbolize how life experiences seem like they might break us yet we are strong enough to keep it all together. The Clear Beads transition into Solid Silver Glass Beads, just like when we learn, grow and heal - we too can become strong and whole again. All along the Mother's journey though, are her Children (the Faceted Silver Czech Glass Beads) side by side with her, making everyone stronger together."

2016 Fall Look Book Reveal –
in support of the Canadian Alopecia Areata Foundation

September is {Alopecia Awareness} Month

We have been personally touched by this Auto-Immune Disorder as our founders' daughter, Kate Jolie, has been living with Alopecia for the past 3 years. She was diagnosed with it at 2 years old when she started to lose large patches of hair and she currently is completely bald, has lost her eyebrows and is beginning to lose the eyelashes on her left eye.

Alopecia is the loss or the absence of hair. In simple terms, the immune system, for unknown reasons, attacks the hair root and causes hair loss. At 5.5 years old, she is already aware of the fact that she looks "different", and as a mother, Nicole is on a mission to bring awareness of this disease, as well as raise funds to find a cure for it. Although this Auto-Immune Disorder isn't life-threatening, it's VERY difficult on a girls' self-esteem and self-image in a society that puts so much weight on beauty and outward appearances!

A portion of ALL Sweet {Jolie} sales throughout the month of September will be donated directly to the {Canadian Alopecia Areata Foundation}.

Our Fall Look Book Reveal Event in Support of The Cdn. Alopecia Foundation was a huge success… on so many levels. The event was sold out, the silent auction tables were BUSY with bidders and the heartfelt emotion of support was overwhelming. Our aim with Sweet {Jolie}’s a {love} project is to continue bringing awareness and support to non-profit organizations that help the women and their families. We are able to grow a {love} project because of the support and contributions from our amazing community of customers and supporting businesses.

THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!

Attendees received Prestige Swag Bags, were served dessert pizza, bid on fab silent auction items, got first dibs at purchasing from the Look Book collection and we were all humbled to hear from the Angel Whispers Program Coordinator about the positive influence Angel Whispers has had.

Net proceeds from ticket sales and 100% of the silent auction proceeds were donated to Angel Whispers. We wish there were bigger words than THANK YOU for these INCREDIBLE Vendors who went out of their way to support event.

In December 2015 we launched our first major initiative to give back to the women in our community. We sold our one of a kind printed "{Jolie is the New Black}” shirts of which 100% of the profits were donated to Edmonton Women’s Shelters – WIN House. We also collected donations from our amazing customers and friends to help meet the needs of the WIN House Urgent Need List. The response was inspiring! THANK YOU to all for helping.
